DEFINITION OF PRESBYOPIA

Presbyopia is an age-related vision condition where the eye gradually loses its ability to focus on nearby objects. It occurs due to the natural hardening of the eye’s lens, making it difficult to adjust focus for near vision tasks like reading, using a phone, or threading a needle. Presbyopia typically starts around the age of 40 and progresses over time.

Unlike other refractive errors, presbyopia is not caused by the shape of the cornea but by the loss of elasticity in the eye’s lens, which reduces its ability to change shape (accommodate) for near vision.

TREATMENT TYPES
